2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Ghana opponent Central African Republic defeats Chad to move to third in Group I

Ghana’s group opponent in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Central African Republic has defeated Chad by a goal to nil today.

Central African Republic in a Round 3 fixture of Group I in the qualifiers for the next FIFA World Cup hosted Chad in a highly-anticipated encounter.

In the game played at the Municipal Stadium, both national teams gave it their all in a bid to secure victory to earn all three points.

At the end of the 90 minutes, a solitary strike by Venuste Baboula in the first half earned a narrow 1-0 victory for Central African Republic.

The victory has propelled Central African Republic to move ahead of Ghana in the Group I standings with the side now third and one point ahead of the Black Stars

Chad on the other hand remain bottom of the Group I standings after failing to win any of their three matches played in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.
