Prince Osei Owusu has expressed pride in representing the country of his parents, Ghana, after making his debut in the Kirin Cup tournament against Japan.
The German-born striker came on in the second half of the Black Stars‘ 2-0 defeat to the Samurai Blue.
The CF Montreal striker had represented Germany at youth levels before deciding to switch nationalities and honour his African heritage.
“Yesterday, I had the incredible honor of making my debut for the Ghana national team. It’s a moment I will carry with me forever. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported me on this journey my family, coaches, teammates, friends, and all the fans who have believed in me,” posted the forward on social media.
“Representing the homeland of my parents fills me with immense pride, and wearing the Ghanaian colors is a privilege I will never take for granted,” he added.
The lanky forward also took the opportunity to wish his new teammate Abu Francis a speedy recover following his heart-wrenching injury.
“At the same time, my thoughts are with our teammate who suffered a serious injury during the match. I wish him strength and a fast, full recovery. We are all with you God bless you Abu Francis,” he posted.
Osei Owusu scored 17 goals across all competitions for Montreal this season.
