Coach Ibrahim Anyass of Siano Football Academy is expected to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters at 10 a.m. today over allegations of sodomy that led to the tragic death of 16-year-old footballer Ransford Owusu Ansah.
The heartbreaking case stems from Ransford’s collapse and eventual death after he was reportedly abused by his coach at the academy in Amasaman, Accra. The young footballer was allegedly sodomised repeatedly by Anyass.
Ransford’s mother earlier told reporters she noticed her son growing weak, withdrawn, and sickly until he finally confided that his coach had been abusing him.
16-year old Ransford Owusu Ansah, who was allegedly sodomized at Amasaman by his football coach, one Mr. Ibrahim Anyass, has sadly passed away following a long battle for justice.
His mother is calling on the general public to assist in bringing the alleged perpetrator.
After being taken home and rushed to hospital, his condition deteriorated and he eventually died. According to the reports, prior to his death the young player had been in a coma.
Shockingly, according to sources, no arrest or formal invitation was made to the coach or academy officials for many months following the initial complaint.
The coach is reported to have returned to training the children at the academy for the past three months despite the death and allegations.
One report clarifies:
The team reportedly suspended the coach after the incident but the coach is back and training the kids for the past three months.
For his part, Anyass is now scheduled to appear at the CID HQ to respond to the allegations.
