My experience in Cameroon has given me good insight – Black Stars Technical Director Winfried Schafer

Black Stars Technical Director Winfried Schafer has expressed confidence in the team’s future performance, citing his experience in Cameroon as a valuable asset.

Schafer was appointed Technical Director after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In an interview, Schafer shared his optimism about the team’s direction, stating, “My experience in Cameroon has given me quite good insight.” He emphasized his role in creating a spirit of optimism and modernizing football in Ghana.

Schafer highlighted the importance of implementing projects in Ghana, seeking international partners to support the team’s development.

He expressed optimism about the team’s progress, particularly after re-establishing unity and winning their first two games.

The Black Stars will regroup later this month to participate in the Unity Cup, a four-nation tournament in the United Kingdom featuring Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.

They will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in September 2025.
