Black Satellites return home following their quarterfinal exit at U-20 AFCON.

Black Satellites have arrived home after exiting the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Egypt 2025 at the quarterfinal stage.

The team was eliminated in a dramatic penalty shootout against host nation Egypt, falling 5-4 after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Despite the narrow defeat, the Satellites were lauded for their vibrant style of play and fighting spirit, which reignited optimism in the country’s youth football development.

Head Coach Desmond Ofei, addressing the media on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, praised the players for their commitment. “I want to thank the players for their dedication and commitment throughout the competition. They gave their all and represented Ghana with heart. I also appreciate the hard work of my technical team and the immense support from management,” he said.

Alhaji Abu Hassan ‘Rhyzo‘, who led the delegation and chairs the Black Satellites Management Committee, also shared encouraging words. “The boys played their hearts out and made us proud. Although we didn’t go all the way, the performance showed promise for the future. We wish all of them the very best in their careers,” he noted.

Black Satellites are expected to reconvene soon as they shift focus to upcoming competitions, with the WAFU A&B Boys Cup on the horizon.

The team will aim to build on the progress made during their recent AFCON campaign.
