Ghana’s Abdul-Aziz Yakubu on target for Qingdao West Coast in stalemate against Chengdu Rongcheng FC

Ghanaian international Abdul-Aziz Yakubu delivered an outstanding performance to help Qingdao West Coast secured an all-important away point against Chengdu Rongcheng FC in the Chinese top division.

The former Rio Ave attacker started and played for 90 minutes as his outfit settled for a 1-1 stalemate against their opponent in the round 13 fixture, held at the Wuliangye Sports Center Stadium on Saturday.

Brazil international Felipe Silva opened the scoring for Chengdu Rongcheng in the 15th-minute mark after being set up by José Pacheco da Silva (Romulo).

However, the Ghanaian attacker stepped up in the 23rd-minute, leveling the score for the visitors in the highly competitive clash. And with no additional goal, the match ended in a draw.

The 26-year-old forward has been impressive since joining the Chinese club in the January transfer window. He has racked up six goals and provided five assists in 12 appearances across competitions.

Yakubu is on a season-long loan at Qingdao West Coast and is expected to return to parent club, Shimizu S-Pulse at the expiration of his loan in December 2025.
