Hohoe United solidified their grip on the top spot in the Division One League Zone Three with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Koforidua Semper Fi at the Koforidua Sports Stadium on Sunday.
A stunning strike by William Oduro in the 4th minute and a quick follow-up from Usman Safianu put the visitors ahead early. Semper Fi responded in the 41st minute through Ebenezer Kobia, but despite a spirited second-half effort, they couldn’t find the equaliser.
Hohoe United now lead the table with 60 points, three ahead of Port City FC.
In Kukurantumi, Port City continued their fine form with a 1-0 win over regional rivals Okwawu United. Bernard Quarcoo converted a penalty in the 51st minute to hand his side a fourth straight win without conceding. They remain firmly in contention for promotion with 57 points.
Elsewhere, Golden Kick SC bounced back emphatically from two defeats, thrashing Kings Palace FC 5-0 at Tuba. Goals from Joshua Fuseini, Adomba Aninagyei, Bless Ege and a brace from Danlad Nuhu sealed the win. Golden Kick are now second-highest scorers in the zone with 34 points.
