Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged the club to extend Thomas Partey’s contract.
The Ghana international’s initial five-year deal comes to an end this summer and has been linked to several clubs in Europe and the Saudi Pro League.
However, multiple reports have suggested that the club is weighing up a decision before extending the contract of the 31-year-old.
Speaking in an interview, Wright dismissed any doubts about the midfielder’s future at the Emirates, highlighting his unique qualities and importance to Mikel Arteta’s setup.
“I don’t see why we should be thinking about it” there’s nothing to think about,” Wright said.
“Thomas Partey should be given another contract. It’s not easy to find a midfielder like Thomas.
“We don’t have many of them in the streets. He has shown that he deserves more and more,” he added.
Partey was instrumental in the Gunners’ impressive win against Real Madrid in the Champions League in the quarterfinals.
Having missed Arsenal‘s 1-0 defeat against PSG in the Champions League at the Emirates on Tuesday, Thomas Partey is expected to return to the side ahead of the return leg on Wednesday night in Paris.
