Former Ghana international Quincy Owusu-Abeyie believes Mohammed Kudus has a lot to offer in Europe, urging the talented midfielder to resist interest from Saudi Arabia.
Kudus, who plies his trade for West Ham United has been linked with a move to the Golf State with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr reportedly keen to secure his signature in the upcoming window.
However, the former Black Stars pacey winger has called on Kudus to remain in Europe as he believes he still has a lot to offer at the highest level.
“With all due respect to the Saudi League, which is growing rapidly and attracting big names, I believe Kudus still has a lot to offer at the highest level in Europe,” said Owusu-Abeyie. “He has the talent and potential to become one of the continent’s top players. A move now would be premature.” He told Africasoccer.com in an interview.
“At his age, he should be playing for a club competing regularly in the UEFA Champions League,” he said.
“There are clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United who could benefit immensely from a player like him. Moving to Saudi Arabia now would be taking a step back.”
Kudus has returned from injury and is expected to be feature for West Ham United when they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Black Stars midfielder missed the sides 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night due to an injury setback, but started a light training on Wednesday as he recovers ahead of the weekend clash.
Kudus has struggled to replicate his impressive debut season form, scoring only three goals and providing two assists in 27 appearances. A 13-game goal drought and a five-game suspension have further hindered his progress.
The enterprising midfielder will be hoping to rediscover his form in order to finish the season on a high note.
