Black Stars coach Otto Addo has made it clear that Andre Ayew remains an option for the national team but will only be invited when necessary.
The 35-year-old forward has not been included in the squad since Addo’s return in March 2024, sparking questions about his future with the team.
However, the coach insists Ayew is not ruled out entirely.
“If we need Andre Ayew, we will call him. At the moment, I see others ahead of him,” Addo told Joy Sports in an interview.
Ayew, who has scored four goals in 11 starts for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre this season, has been a key figure for Ghana over the years.
His absence has seen his younger brother, Jordan Ayew, take over as Black Stars captain.
Jordan has since led the team to victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, helping Ghana top Group I with 15 points and four games left to play.
