Alex Iwobi believes Nigeria’s camaraderie would deliver AFCON 2025 glory.

Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi believes the strong bond among Super Eagles players could be key to winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

The Fulham star has been in fine form in the English Premier League this season, contributing seven goals and three assists, and is determined to go all the way with Nigeria in next year’s continental showpiece.

Speaking on the “Is This Seat Taken” show with Chinasa Anukam, Iwobi reflected on his favourite moment from AFCON 2023, where Nigeria finished as runners-up to hosts Ivory Coast.

“My favourite moment from AFCON 2023 was beating South Africa on penalties. Our goalkeeper (Nwabali), that’s my guy. We’re one big family, we don’t like having big egos, and we’re all as good as each other. Obviously, we’ve got people nominated for Africa’s best, but we’re trying to be Africa’s best team. That’s how we see it,” Iwobi said.

The 28-year-old was part of the Nigerian squad that won bronze in AFCON 2019 and insists his target for 2025 is nothing short of gold.

“We want to win the AFCON. We were so close in the last one, and I want to win the next one,” he added.

Nigeria have been drawn in a competitive group alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda as they aim for a fourth continental title.
