“Otto Addo’s future is of great concern to me” – Kofi Adams

Minister of Sports and Recreation designate Kofi Adams has admitted to being uneasy regarding issues relating to the performance and status of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

Under Otto Addo’s guidance, Ghana finished its qualifying series winless and thus will not be at Afcon 2025.

Despite enormous public pressure to sack Otto Addo, he has been backed by the Ghana Football Association to lead Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualification campaign which resumes in March.

According to the Sports Minister designate the complaints about the performance of the coach have not only come from the general public but also from within the playing body.

I have heard a lot of comments about his stay or non-stay and I must say it is a matter of concern to me.

This concern of stay or non-stay is not just coming from the non-playing body.

It’s not just the fans talking because the engagements I have had go beyond that to even the playing body and some members of the association.

It is of great concern and I will leave it at great concern because I don’t want to make a pronouncement because we are still consulting.

These matters have also been raised by the playing body at least one or two that have come to my attention.” he told Sporty FM.

Meanwhile the GFA have made new appointments and additions to the Black Stars technical team with German veteran coach Winfried Schafer the most notable among them.

The former Afcon winner with Cameroon has been named as Technical Advisor of the Black Stars and is expected to play a key role as the World Cup qualifiers loom.
