GFA noticed issues with player relations hence Stephen Appiah Black Stars appointment – Augustine Ahinful

Former Ghana international Augustine Ahinful has shed light on the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to appoint Stephen Appiah as deputy chairman of the Black Stars management committee.

Appiah, who captained Ghana during its first World Cup appearance in 2006, was recently tasked with supporting Randy Abbey in managing the national team.

The appointment comes amid reports of difficult in managing relationships. Ahinful believes the move addresses deeper concerns within the team.

The FA should explain to us further, going forward, what they mean by player relations,” he told Sporty FM.

“Probably they’ve noticed certain things within the team which is not right. So they need somebody like Stephen [Appiah] to come on board to have that interaction with them.”

The Black Stars face critical World Cup qualifiers in March against Chad and Madagascar, following their failure to qualify for AFCON for the first time in 21 years.

Ahinful emphasized the importance of fostering trust between players and management to ensure the team’s success.
