The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is delighted to announce that H.E. John Dramani Mahama, former President of the Republic of Ghana, will be the special guest of honour at the 49th SWAG Awards.
President Mahama has confirmed his attendance at this prestigious event, highlighting his enduring commitment to sports development and promotion in Ghana.
His presence underscores his dedication to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the nation’s sports heroes.
As part of the event, President Mahama is expected to deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Gold and Glory: A Call for Change in National Orientation and Investment in Sports.” In his address, he will share his vision for advancing sports in Ghana and honour the remarkable achievements of the award winners.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Center.
It will celebrate the outstanding achievements of Ghanaian sports personalities and teams during the 2024 year under review.
Since its inception in 1975, the SWAG Awards has been Ghana’s longest-running award scheme, consistently recognizing and rewarding exceptional sportsmen and women. President Mahama’s presence will undoubtedly elevate the event’s prestige and excitement.
The ceremony, renowned for attracting high-profile guests, will also feature a live performance by Highlife sensation Peter Fameye Gozah, popularly known as Fameye. His performance is set to add a vibrant touch to the evening.
