GFA to make decision on Otto Addo at next Executive Council meeting – Henry Asante Twum confirms

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has hinted that the Executive Council will decide on Otto Addo’s future in the next meeting.

Addo, 49, is facing an uncertain future after failing to guide the Black Stars to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the time in two decades.

Ghana after six games played during the qualifiers recorded three defeats and three draws and finished at the bottom of Group F with three points.

In 10 games played in 2024, the Black Stars recorded just two wins.

Following the team’s failure to qualify for the tournament, there have been calls made to dismiss Otto Addo, who is the head coach of the Black Stars.

Despite Otto Addo’s presenting his technical reports to the Executive Council, Asante Twum says a decision will be made in the next meeting of the Executive Council.

“To be honest, the very day Otto Addo presented his report, the Executive Council held about seven-hour meeting and all the members of the Council except Kwesi Appiah made their views known,” he told Asempa FM.

“The area of concern which is player management, tactics and call ups were all discussed but I cannot read the body language of everybody and say they want him [Otto Addo] to stay or go but what I know is that there was no decision made.

“What I know is that a decision will be made at the next Executive Council meeting,” he added.

Otto Addo was reappointed in March 2024 on a three-year deal with an option of two years. He replaced Chris Hughton.
