Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has blamed Ghana’s football decline on the tendency to seek quick solutions to football problems.
The 2009 U-20 World Cup winner believes the poor transitioning of players from the junior national teams to the Black Stars is a key issue affecting the progress of football.
Badu seemed to suggest that relying on already-made players with dual nationality is contributing to the Black Stars’ underperformance.
“If the national teams are not doing well, whatever you do, we’ll talk about it. So, it’s a problem — the transition,” he told Joy Sports.
“How we transition players from the junior national teams to the Black Stars, and the quick solutions we want.
“Listen, some years ago, we had a history of how we managed our national teams. It didn’t start with the current FA.
“It has been like this since our time with the under-20s, when seven of us were promoted to the Black Stars.”
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 21 years as they will not be in Morocco for this year’s tournament.
The team has not also made it past the group stage of any major tournament since 2019.
