I am disappointed with the scoreline – Accra Lions’ sporting director, Ibrahim Tanko

Accra Lions sporting director, Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his disappointment following his side’s 3-2 defeat against Hearts of Oak.

Lions hosted the Phobian Club at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in the Matchday 15 games on Sunday afternoon.

Despite taking the lead, Hearts of Oak fought back with substitute Mawuli Wayo scoring two quick goals to ensure the Rainbow Club secured the win.

Speaking after the game, Tanko expressed his disappointment but also hinted that they will prepare well and ensure they return to winning ways against Dreams FC.

“I think we started very well until the time they scored and it was a very tough game for us today but I think in the end they deserved to win more than us,” Tanko said.

“I’m disappointed in the score line but in terms of the performance, I think they did very well and so we have to go and do our homework for the next game against Dreams FC.

“We have learnt that we have to score. If you score one and the chance comes you have to score and in the premier league you have to score more goals to win.

“Scoring just one goal, always you have to be under pressure so definitely we are going to work on it,” he concluded.

The defeat sinks Accra Lions further into the relegation zone where they now sit 16th with 13 points.
