Aboubakar Ouattara: We were pleased to defeat the Accra Lions despite a slight loss of focus.

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, admonished his side for losing concentration for stretches in the second half in its tie against Accra Lions but was happy that didn’t get the team to lose the contest.

He said this in a post-game interview after Hearts beat Accra Lions 3-2 at Sogakope in the Ghana Premier League in a game that had Mawuli Wayo step off the bench to bag a brace.

Mohammed Hussein put Hearts in front in the 37th minute with a fine header but Hearts conceded goals in the 52nd and 73rd minute respectively through Lucky Nwafor and Blessing Dankwa.

However, Hearts substitute Wayo scored in the 81st and 84th minute to put Hearts back in the lead and eventually grab the win and its second league triumph in a row after beating Berekum Chelsea. The close win wasn’t lost on Hearts coach Aboubakar Ouattara who stated,

“We couldn’t make it and Wayo came, Karikari (Martin), all these players came to change to change the game and take the three points, that’s the important thing.”

“We lost concentration when came from the dressing room. I don’t know what happened but the important thing is that we take the three points, the rest, I will correct it on the training ground.

Hearts take on Legon Cities next on January 3, 2025.
