Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, has expressed his confidence in his ability to coach the Ghana senior national football team, the Black Stars.
Hayford believes he has the necessary competence to take on the role and is open to the opportunity.
“Everything shows I can do the job. So if you see competence in me, give it to me; if you don’t see any competence, don’t give it to me,” he said on Asempa FM.
The Black Stars have struggled recently, failing to qualify for the African Cup of Nations and sparking conversations about the competence of head coach Otto Addo.
Hayford’s comments come ahead of the Black Stars‘ 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad in March 2025.
Hayford’s confidence in his abilities is backed by his impressive performance with Heart of Lions, who are currently performing well in the Ghana Premier League.
