AS Monaco manager Adi Hutter believes Mohammed Salisu’s experience of English football will be vital for his team ahead of their UEFA Champions League game against Arsenal.
The Ghana international returns to England for the first time since leaving Southampton in the summer of 2023.
Salisu, a key figure in Hutter’s team, is expected to start for the French giants in the game at the Emirates on Wednesday night as Monaco eye the scalp of the Gunners.
Ahead of the game, Hutter named the Ghanaian as one of his players, whose EPL experience will be key in London.
We have with us Thilo Kehrer and Mohammed Salisu, who know the Premier League very well, as does Takumi Minamino. But we also have our two Brazilian full-backs, Aleksandr Golovin, who are experienced players. We also have a very good mix in our squad between these more capped players and our young talents.” said Hutter.
Salisu spent three years at Southampton before joining AS Monaco in 2023.
Despite a slow start to his career in France, Salisu shook off persistent injury troubles to become a mainstay in the team.
In three games in the UEFA Champions League, Salisu has netted once and was named in the Team of the Week on matchday 4.
