Our aim is to make sure Ghana qualifies for the World Cup in 2026: Adams Abdul-Salam, New Edubiase MP.

Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, Adams Abdul-Salam has assured that the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) will ensure the Black Stars qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

He made this remark after John Dramani Mahama and the NDC were declared winners of the 2024 general elections.

Despite failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after finishing at the bottom of Group F with three points, Abdul-Salam, speaking in an interview said the president-elect is determined to ensure the Black Stars secure qualification for the Mundial, which will be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“President-elect, John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government are determined to ensure the Black Stars will qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” he told Asempa FM.

We did not qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament but will work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by providing them with the needed logistics to ensure the team gets qualification. It is our biggest objective to ensure the Black Stars qualify for the tournament.”

The Black Stars, who sit 2nd in Group I tied with nine points with Comoros will resume their qualifiers in March 2025 with games against Chad and Madagascar.

He also assured his constituents that the New Edubiase Sports Stadium will be completed under the John Mahama administration.

During the campaign, John Mahama came to my constituency and tabled before him four demands and one key thing is the New Edubiase Sports Stadium. The previous NDC administration started but the NPP deliberately did not complete it but myself together with John Mahama to ensure the stadium will be completed.”
