WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup: Ghana’s opponents Burkina Faso withdraws from tournament

Ghana’s path to success in the WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup has been made slightly easier, as opponents Burkina Faso have withdrawn from the tournament.

The Burkinabè Football Federation announced their decision to pull out of the competition in a correspondence addressed to the Executive Directorate of WAFU-B.

As a result, Group A has been reduced to two teams: Ghana and Benin. Group B remains unchanged, comprising Nigeria, Niger, and Côte d’Ivoire
.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from December 12 to 22, 2024, in Prampram, Ghana.

For Ghana, this tournament presents an opportunity to bounce back after a two-year ban from CAF due to alleged age-cheating in 2022.

The Black Maidens are poised to make a strong comeback, and Burkina Faso‘s withdrawal might just give them the boost they need to succeed.
