Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club Board Chairman Herbert Mensah has slammed the role of football administrators in the poor performance of the Black Stars in recent years.
He said this in an interview with Elton Brobbey in the wake of the Black Stars failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Ghana missed out on qualifying to compete at the AFCON for the first time in 20 years after ranking bottom of Group F standings having failed to win a game in six outings.
“You would have noticed it even with Niger and Sudan, you’re not seeing stars in the top Bundesliga clubs or Premier League or La Liga but what you have are people playing with a system that makes sense and they are playing a coordinated fashion that makes sense.”
“So what is it about our administrators that put a system together which when they fail, they still have the guts to come and make excuses that nobody in their right mind would accept.”
The President of World Rugby’s African Association also stated that based on past failings in football and other sports, Ghana is no longer a great sporting nation.
