The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to hold further consultations with members and key stakeholders in the football ecosystem.
The aim is to develop a comprehensive plan for the Black Stars, following the team’s dismal failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON was a historic low, marking the first time in 20 years that the team has missed out on the continental showpiece. To make matters worse, Ghana failed to win a single match during the qualifying campaign, a stark contrast to their usual dominance on the pitch.
The team has also struggled to make an impact in major tournaments, failing to progress beyond the group stage in each of their last three major competitions. This alarming trend has raised concerns about the team’s ability to compete at the highest level.
According to the GFA, the consultations will involve various stakeholders, including coaches, players, and football administrators.
The goal is to identify the challenges facing the team and develop strategies to address them. The GFA is committed to taking a holistic approach to restore the glory of the Black Stars.
The move is part of the GFA’s efforts to revamp the team and improve their performance in upcoming tournaments, including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
With the World Cup qualifiers looming, the GFA is demanding a marked improvement from the Black Stars.
The team will need to regroup and refocus if they are to restore the nation’s pride and qualify for the World Cup.
