Ghanaians have taken to social media to show love to former Black Stars captain Abedi Pele on his 60th birthday.
Born Abedi Ayew, the legend is marking his milestone birthday today, Tuesday, November 5, and the outpouring of admiration has been tremendous.
Fans and well-wishers have shared glowing tributes to Pele, whose football prowess extended far beyond Ghana and Africa, leaving a lasting legacy on the global stage.
At just 16 years old, he was part of the Ghana squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1982, and during his prime, he dazzled African teams with his bold performances, marked by his dribbling, goal-scoring, and playmaking abilities.
Regarded by many as the greatest Ghanaian footballer of all time, Pele’s achievements speak volumes. He claimed the African Player of the Year title three times and famously provided the assist that helped Marseille secure the Champions League, making them the only French club to win the prestigious European trophy.
Though retired, Pele remains in the spotlight as his sons, Andre and Jordan Ayew, carry forward his legacy, making their father proud with their achievements at the highest levels of football.
Today, Pele is a proud father, travelling the world and sharing his invaluable football knowledge with the next generation.
