Ghana forward Jordan Ayew praised his football skills following his late winning goal in Leicester City’s comeback victory against Southampton.
The Foxes faced a challenging match at St. Mary’s on Saturday, trailing 2-0 at halftime.
However, in a thrilling turn of events, Ayew dashed to the near post to connect with a corner kick and found the back of the net in the 98th minute, clinching a 3-2 win for Leicester.
In a post-match interview, the seasoned player reflected on scoring his first league goal for Leicester, calling it a “special moment.”
He expressed his confidence, stating, “It was obviously my first goal for the club in the league, and it took a bit of time, but I believe in myself and my abilities. I know I can contribute a lot, and I’m happy for the fans, for myself, and for my family.”
Southampton initially surged ahead with goals from Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo, giving them a two-goal lead before halftime.
Leicester started their comeback in the 64th minute when Facundo Buonanotte scored, assisted by Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Jamie Vardy then equalized for the visitors in the 74th minute with a penalty kick. Ayew, who joined Leicester over the summer, made a significant impact in the match by scoring the decisive goal after being set up by Harry Winks.
Additionally, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku earned the Man of the Match award for Leicester, contributing an assist in just 31 minutes after coming off the bench.
