Samartex, Medeama can beat Sudan – Wilson Arthur criticizes Black Stars’ poor performance

Wilson Arthur, the owner and financier of Skyy FC, has called for the Black Stars to prioritize committed players as the team faces scrutiny following their recent 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

This defeat has left Ghana in third place with only two points from four matches, after also losing their opener to Angola and drawing 1-1 with Niger.

In their previous encounter against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Stars were held to a goalless draw.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Arthur, who also serves as the chairman of the FA Cup Committee, expressed his disappointment with the players’ attitude.

He believes that local clubs like Medeama, Samartex, and Dreams FC could easily defeat the Sudanese team.

We need to take players who are really committed. Trust me I believe that this Sudanese team, Dreams FC can beat this team, Medeama SC this team trust me and even FC Samartex can beat this Sudanese team,” he said.

The Black Stars will continue their qualification campaign in November, facing Niger and Angola.

For Ghana to secure a spot in the tournament scheduled to take place in Morocco next year, they will need Sudan to lose to both Angola and Niger.
