It was good Angola beat Niger; qualification is still in our hands- Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo believes that permutations on qualification to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco favour Ghana with Angola beating Niger 2-0.

He said this in a pre-game interview with GFA media ahead of Ghana’s crucial 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan on Tuesday, October 15 at 13:00 GMT in Benghazi, Libya.

Ghana drew goalless with Sudan in Accra and the draw complicated Ghana’s qualification to the tournament since the goalless draw meant the Black Stars are still winless after three qualification games.

However, Otto Addo believes that the Stars qualification path cleared up with Angola beating Niger to maintain its lead atop Group F.

I think it was good Angola won. If Niger would have won and would have been past us (with four points) that would have been bad I think and now the situation is still in our hands. We need to win this very match tomorrow and once we are second…I think it’s still in our own hands and this is what we are looking for. so we are looking for tomorrow’s win and then we will be back on track.”

The top two ranked nations at the end of the round robin format of games progress to the 2025 AFCON.
