Ghana’s Black Stars have landed safely in Libya for a crucial second leg against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers
This is the second match between the two sides, with Ghana looking to improve their status in Group F.
The first leg, played at the Accra Sports Stadium, ended in a dismal 0-0 tie. Despite controlling possession and creating opportunities, the Black Stars were unable to break past Sudan‘s defense, putting head coach Otto Addo and his team under additional pressure to produce results.
Ghana is currently in third position, with only two points from two games, and its route to AFCON qualifying is becoming increasingly narrow.
A win in the forthcoming encounter is critical for the team’s chances of advancing to the championship, which will be held in Morocco next year.
The Black Stars held their final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 12.
After landing in Libya tonight, the Black Stars will continue their preparations with a mandatory training session at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday. Tuesday’s match, which begins at 13:00 GMT, will be pivotal.
Otto Addo’s team must defeat a tenacious Sudan side managed by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah. With their qualification campaign hanging in the balance, everyone is expecting the Black Stars to rise to the occasion and claim a crucial victory.
