2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Otto Addo vows to work on Black Stars finishing after frustrating draw with Sudan

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has assured fans that the team will focus on improving their finishing ahead of the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana played out a 0-0 draw against Sudan in the first leg of the doubleheader, missing several chances to score despite an otherwise solid performance.

The national team showed strong defensive discipline and spirit but couldn’t capitalize on opportunities to find the back of the net.

After the game, Otto Addo acknowledged the missed chances and promised to work on their attacking play before the return leg, scheduled for Tuesday, October 15.

Surely, we will try to train on finishing and give them confidence, that’s all,” he said.

This was the only thing which was missing. The spirit was good, the passion was there, the defensive discipline was there, they’re just about to finish the action, that’s all,” he added.

The return leg will take place at the Martyrs of February Stadium, with kick-off set for 13:00 GMT.

Ghana currently sits third in their group with two points after three matches, and a victory is crucial to boost their chances of qualifying for next year’s tournament in Morocco.
