Kwesi Appiah, Sudan’s head coach and a member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee, has officially responded to CAF’s directive instructing him to temporarily step down from his ExCo role.
Appiah’s spokesman, Asante Fokuo, confirmed this development, stating that the former Black Stars coach had promptly addressed the issue.
Fokuo explained that CAF‘s letter arrived on Sunday, requesting Appiah to step aside until the conclusion of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
“It is not a big problem for us we have replied the letter we received the letter on Sunday we sent the reply to CAF on Monday morning. Stating that this is not a problem he has already taken a decision,” Fokuo remarked in an interview with Peace FM.
According to Fokuo, Appiah will refrain from engaging in any ExCo-related matters until the end of November.
Ghana is preparing for crucial AFCON qualifiers against Sudan, with matches scheduled for October 10 and 15, 2024. The Black Stars must win to improve their standing in Group F as they pursue qualification for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
