2025 AFCON Qualifiers: CAF orders Kwesi Appiah to step down from one role before Ghana-Sudan match

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially informed Kwesi Appiah to resign from one of his roles before the Ghana v Sudan game.

The former Ghana international is currently the head coach of the Sudanese national team and also holds a position as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Appiah’s roles has been criticized by some sections of football fans with some calling on him to relinquish one of his roles.

However, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers doubleheader, CAF has informed Appiah to resign from one of his roles before the game.

According to the continent’s football governing body, this is to prevent any conflict of interest ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, Sudan will be hosted in the first leg of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10 before the return leg October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
