The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber has ruled in favour of Ghanaian forward Augustine Okrah, ordering Young Africans SC (Yanga SC) to pay USD24,400 in outstanding remuneration owed to the player.
This decision stems from a payment dispute during Okrah’s time at the Tanzanian club.
Along with the order to pay Okrah, Yanga was fined USD 3,000 by FIFA, which must be paid within 30 days.
If Yanga fails to comply with the ruling within 45 days, they risk further sanctions, including a ban on registering new players for up to three transfer windows.
The club may also face disciplinary actions from FIFA if they continue to ignore the payment order.
Okrah has since moved on from Yanga and currently plays for Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League.
This case highlights the importance of contractual obligations between clubs and players, as well as FIFA’s role in enforcing fair treatment and compensation for athletes across international borders.
