Former Ghanaian football captain Asamoah Gyan has announced his withdrawal from politics to focus on humanitarian work.
Despite his recent involvement with the New Patriotic Party‘s sports committee, Gyan has declared his decision to disaffiliate from all political parties.
“I am fully independent from political influence. This is about our children, our communities, and our continent. Together, with the support of international organizations, royal families, and philanthropic partners, we can create lasting change that empowers our youth to build the future they deserve”.
He expressed regret for not being fair to the youth and people of Ghana and vowed to continue his philanthropic efforts, wishing all parties a peaceful election.
Gyan’s decision has received mixed reactions, with supporters praising his noble move and political commentators assessing the impact on the NPP’s campaign.
His renewed focus on humanitarian work highlights his past contributions to charitable activities and may inspire others to adopt a similar apolitical stance.
Gyan’s withdrawal reshapes the political landscape, showcasing the complex interplay between sports, politics, and social responsibility
