Edem Agbana, a spokesperson on the sports policies in the NDC’s manifesto, says proper checks and balances must be instituted in the management of sports facilities in Ghana.
The party said they will undertake an emergency refurbishment of pitches at major stadia in the country when voted into office in the December elections.
Agbana believes putting in place these checks will ensure no defects are left on facilities after they are rented out for auxiliary events.
“There must be checks and balances on how our stadia are giving out for commercial use,” he told Joy Sports.
“When you go to University of Ghana, for example, before anybody is able to use facilities of the institution, there are processes that you go through.
“There are some facilities after you use or before you use, you are made to sign an agreement. If any property or any damage is caused, you are made to pay and repairs are done immediately.
“We will renovate all the stadia across the country and ensure that after renovation, we institute proper maintenance culture.”
