Ghana’s Black Princesses are set to kick off their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign against Austria tonight at the El Techo stadium in Bogotá exactly 10pm Ghana time.
The team has been in Colombia since August 14, preparing for the tournament with friendly matches against Mexico and South Korea, resulting in a goalless draw and a 2-2 draw, respectively.
With a fully fit squad, Coach Yussif Basigi is confident in his players’ ability to secure points in their opening match. Key players, including Captain Stella Nyamekye and Comfort Yeboah, who won the African Games in March, are expected to shine on the global stage.
However the aims to improve their record in the competition, having only won one of their past nine matches, and advance beyond the group stage for the first time.
