John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer for the 2024 Ghana Presidential Elections, has proposed an organic approach to strengthen Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars.
Speaking at a rally held at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Mahama emphasized the need to reinstate grassroots football programs to develop local talent.
Mahama criticized the current state of the Bukom Arena, claiming it was “not fully activated.” He promised that if his party wins the December elections, they will address this issue.
“We must bring back the inter schools football, we must bring back the Milo Championships, we must bring back the Academicals…so that we can pick the talents.
“The thing about the Ghana team is, we have individual talents but they don’t have enough playing time together.
“Right now, they are not playing as a team, they are playing as individuals…but it won’t take us far unless we do it in a more organic fashion.”
