Hasaacas Ladies assistant coach Emmanuel Kwesi Mensah says his team approached their clash against Omnisports Etincelle carefully because they were not familiar with the Burkinabe side.
The two sides played out a goalless draw on Sunday in their opening game of the 2024 WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
Speaking after the game, Mensah said, “We didn’t know the opponents very well, so we were very careful about how to approach it. For the first five minutes, it was clear that they were a very tactically disciplined team. They had a solid plan, packing the middle.
“They were not applying high pressure and were not keeping a high line. Even in men’s football, when this happens, it can be very frustrating. We were unable to get the ball through the middle because of their packed defense.”
Hasaacas Ladies will now turn their attention to their upcoming match against Edo Queens on Wednesday, August 14.
Edo Queens won their Group B opener decisively, defeating Niger’s AS Garde National 5-0.
