Arsenal are prepared to approve Eddie Nketiah‘s loan move to Marseille, which includes an obligation to buy for a fee approximately €30 million.
Personal terms have been agreed for a five-year contract, as reported by The Athletic. The decision now rests with Marseille regarding whether to proceed with the deal.
New Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi is leading the pursuit, and Nketiah, 25, is eager to join the Ligue 1 side.
In July, Marseille presented an improved offer nearing €20 million (£16.8 million), aligning more closely with Arsenal’s valuation of the forward. Discussions between the clubs have continued.
Nketiah signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal in June 2022, just before his previous deal was set to expire.
Under Mikel Arteta, Nketiah’s opportunities as a main striker have been limited due to the arrivals of Gabriel Jesus and, more recently, Kai Havertz, who has become the club’s primary striker.
Last season, Nketiah made 37 appearances for Arsenal, scoring six goals. However, he started only 10 Premier League matches and was an unused substitute in the final six league games as Arsenal competed for the title with Manchester City.
Nketiah also made his senior England debut last term, coming on as a substitute in a friendly against Australia in October. He remains eligible to represent Ghana, as he has yet to make a competitive appearance for England.
