Black Stars striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has stated that he expected to get his debut goal in his first appearance for Coventry City Football City.
However, he missed out on meeting that expectation and has stated that he has switched his focus to playing for Coventry in the opening game of the Sky Bet Championship.
Thomas-Asante played for the first time in a Coventry shirt after joining the club on a four year deal for an undisclosed fee from West Bromwich Albion.
With West Brom last season, the 25 year old scored 12 goals and added two assists in 43 games in all competitions as West Brom bid to qualify to the English Premier League.
“I am over the moon to get to work. I was expecting to get my debut goal but we will save that for my league debut at Stoke. I am super excited and I cannot wait to give the fans something to be excited about” Thomas-Asante stated in an interview with Coventry City media.
English born Thomas-Asante made his Black Stars debut in Ghana’s 4-3 win over Central African Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Coventry City lost 2-1 to German side Werder Bremen in the club’s final preseason game before it opens its 2024-2025 season campaign against Stoke City on Saturday, August 10.
