Asante Kotoko will clash with rivals Hearts of Oak in the first Democracy Cup scheduled to come off next week at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The game is part of activities marking 30 years of parliamentary democracy in the Fourth Republic.
Last week, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, led a delegation to present the trophy to President Akufo-Addo.
Bagbin says the purpose of the game is to preach peace ahead of the December General Elections.
“The objective definitely of the Democracy Cup is to leverage sports, particularly football, as a platform to involve our teeming youth in the 30th anniversary celebration and to get them to understand what this whole democracy is about.
“We want to use the opportunity to preach peace and unity among the youth, particularly as the nation gets towards the election 2024 in December.”
The game was initially scheduled to take place last week Friday but it was moved forward to Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
