Steven Mukwala set to join Simba SC after Asante Kotoko departure

Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala is on the verge of signing for Tanzanian giants Simba SC after leaving Asante Kotoko following the expiration of his contract.

According to reports in the East African country, the 24-year-old is set to sign a three-year deal with the club and would earn a substantial salary after establishing a reputation for scoring goals in the Ghana Premier League.

Talks with Simba are said to be advanced, and Mukwala will receive a sign-on fee of $130,000 along with a monthly salary of $9,000.

Mukwala joined the Porcupine Warriors in 2022 and has been a key figure for them, scoring over 25 goals in 65 league appearances.

The 24-year-old striker scored 14 goals in 28 Ghana Premier League games in the 2023-2024 season as Kotoko finished sixth in the 18-team league standings.

He starred in the Super Clash against big rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC by scoring in both games, including a brace in the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium.

In his debut season, Mukwala scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 31 league games.
