Former Ghana midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, says he is hopeful the Africa Cup of Nations will not be played in December again after the next edition.
Last week, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that they will schedule the next edition of the continent’s flagship tournament for December 2025 to January 2026.
This is because they don’t want it to clash with the expanded FIFA Club World Cup that will be played in the summer that year.
The December period is a particularly busy time for clubs in the Premier League, where the festive fixture list is congested.
“It’s a very difficult situation but this is our job. This is the kind of job we want to do,” he told Joy Sports.
“It’s just unfortunate but we need to abide with it and just go with it. I hope it will not repeat itself because it will bring a lot of chaos for the players,” he added.
The qualifying process for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is yet to start.
