Herve Renard confirms he will leave French women job amid Nigeria links

Former Ghana assistant coach, Hervé Renard, has confirmed his decision to leave the French women’s national team after the 2024 Paris Olympics which would be held in July and August.

He is already reportedly on the verge of securing another job as he could be making a return to Africa. Nigeria wants to secure the French tactician who has already proven himself on the continent.

In a press conference, Hervé Renard confirmed that he will leave his position as head coach of the French women’s national team at the end of his contract after the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“This will be the last one, it’s the final stretch and in international competitions, sometimes it ends very quickly, regardless of the date. Once the last match is played, there’s often great joy but everyone goes their separate ways a bit. I’m used to it; this will be my 11th international competition. It won’t be without a touch of emotion,” he said.

The pride of having worn this uniform for the French team and finishing on a very positive note. There’s still one step to go, but I’m confident that the French team will clinch a title in the near future. Hopefully as soon as possible,” added the former coach of Saudi Arabia.

Winner of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia and the 2015 title with the Ivory Coast Elephants, Hervé Renard is once again being linked with a move to Africa.

According to several media reports, the Nigerian Football Federation is in talks with the 55-year-old coach. Initial contacts have been made, but nothing concrete has materialized yet.

It remains to be seen whether the Nigerian authorities can convince the double African champion to join their ranks.
