Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club midfielder Richmond Lamptey has wished recently released teammate Danlad Ibrahim well in his future endeavours.
He wished the goalkeeper well after Ibrahim got released in a mass player clear out by the Porcupine Warriors following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.
Ibrahim was one of 11 players released by Kotoko after finishing sixth in the league despite recording the most away wins (five) but missed out on a top four finish by recording 30 of 51 points at home
Ivorian international Serge Eric Zeze, former Ghana Premier League champion George Mfegue of Cameroon and Sherif Mohammed headlined the list of released players.
Reacting to the news of the mass departures, Lamptey, who won the GPL title with Ibrahim two seasons ago, commiserated with Ibrahim who was in Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad stating,
“It was nice having you as a teammate and friend. Good luck in your future endeavors” Lamptey wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Like Danlad Ibrahim, Lamptey had a run with the Black Stars when he was named in the 2023 AFCON squad
