Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, says his team will be playing to win the Ghana Premier League title next season.
His statement comes on the back of Hearts finishing the 2023-2024 season in 14th place, two places worse than it finished in the previous season.
Hearts beat Bechem United 3-2 to avoid getting relegated on the final day of competition in Bechem and despite the gulf in standing between Hearts and league champions, FC Samartex 1996, Aboubakar believes things will change at Hearts and lead them to be title contenders next season.
“Our recruitment, we are coming. We will change some things, we will change so many things and next season, we are playing for the league. We are not coming to play for the low end of the league.”
Ouattara added that despite beating Bechem United to finish the season on a good note, he expressed his displeasure about the Phobian club’s campaign.
The Ivorian coach replaced Matinus Koopman as head coach midway through the season replacing Bashiru Abdul who served as interim head coach.
