Jordan Ayew is one goal away from equaling his senior brother, Andre Ayew‘s goal tally for the Black Stars after finding the back of the net against Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Crystal Palace striker scored a late winner as the Black Stars came from a goal down to shock the best-ranked team in Group I, Mali on Thursday night.
The crucial strike was his 23th goal since making his debut for the West Africa powerhouse in September 2010.
Andre Ayew, who is currently the captain of the national team has racked up 24 goals in 114 appearances since making his debut in August 2007.
However, Jordan Ayew will draw level with his bother if he is able to score again in their game against Central Africa Republic on Monday. Jordan needed 101 games to hit 23 goals for the four-time African champions.
Meanwhile, their father Abedi Pele scored 19 goals in 73 games during his playing days for the Black Stars.
Jordan Ayew will be hoping to continue his goalscoring form when the Black Stars take on central Africa Republic in matchday four of the qualifiers.
The much anticipated game will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Monday at 7pm.
