Mali’s position above Ghana in FIFA rankings demonstrates their level – Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has admitted that Mali is above Ghana ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifier on Thursday night at the 26th March Stadium in Bamako.

Ghana is coming up against their neighbors sitting fifth in the group and need to win to enhance their chances of qualifying for the Canada, USA and Mexico tournament.

The game will kick off at 7 pm, with the Black Stars set to face the Central African Republic four days later at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Otto Addo said Mali being above Ghana in the FIFA world rankings means their level is above Ghana’s.

“It’s a very important match for us. We have to win. This will be our best to guarantee our chances to qualify for the World Cup.

“They showed recently in their games how good they are. And in the FIFA world rankings, they are above us.

Mali is a great team. It’s very, very difficult for us to beat them, but we have to try.”
