My second goal against Hearts was instinctive. Kotoko’s Steven Mukwala

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club striker, Steven Mukwala, says one of his two goals scored against Accra Hearts of Oak was down to instincts.

Mukwala scored a brace as Kotoko beat Hearts 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with his scoring outing taking the Ugandan’s tally to 14 goals for the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season drawing the praise of Kotoko coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.

The win is Kotoko’s second over Hearts of Oak this season and Mukwala scored in the first leg that had the Porcupine Warriors beat Hearts 3-2.

Mukwala tracked a long ball and maintained his composure under tremendous pressure to slot the ball into the net for his first and cut the ball on to his right foot on a counter attack before slamming the ball into the bottom left side of the goal for his second goal.”

Speaking in his post game interview, Mukwala praised his team for the win and went ahead to breakdown his goals scored in the eighth and 92nd minutes respectively.

That was teh tactical approach. There were two Hearts players defending me so I had to distance myself from them so they didn’t l know my position. That one (the second goal) was just an instinct. I saw a defender coming so I had to reduce my speed so that’s how I scored.”

Kotoko rank ninth in the league after the win.
