The Ghana U17 male national team nicknamed the Black Starlets are through to the knockout stage of the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
The Starlets locked horns with their counterparts from Benin today in their second Group A match of the tournament being hosted in Accra.
In a game played at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Ghana dominated possession throughout the 90 minutes and managed to score the goals to secure victory.
The opening goal of the contest was scored by Mark Kagawa in the 19th minute after a very good team move.
Three minutes later, the Black Starlets equalized again, this time through skilful midfielder Theophilus Ayamga.
Before the break, Benin pulled one back against the run of play but it was disallowed as a result of an offside.
Despite the tough contest that ensued between the two teams in the second half, neither side could find the back of the net.
With the game ending 2-0, Ghana has qualified for the knockout stage of the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship with two wins from two games.
